How we handle your data.

A short, plain-English summary of what Islam: Prayer Time, Qibla & Quran collects, why, and how to control it.

The short version

We don't sell your data. Ever.

Your location stays on your device. We use it only to compute prayer times and the qibla direction. It is never uploaded to our servers — we don't run one.

We don't have user accounts. There is no login, no email collection, no profile.

Ads pay for the free version. Google AdMob may use a non-personal advertising ID. You can buy Lifetime Pro to remove ads entirely.

You can erase everything by uninstalling the app. All preferences, bookmarks, and cached data live in your device's local storage.

1. Information we collect

1.1 On your device only

The following data is stored locally in the app and never leaves your phone:

Your saved city (name + coordinates) and any places you pick.
App preferences: language, theme, calculation method, adhan sound, font size, notification toggles.
Personal usage data: bookmarks, missed-prayer counters, dhikr totals, fasting log, daily reading progress, last-read verse.
Cache: downloaded Qur'an audio files and ezan sound files, until you clear them from Settings → Storage.

1.2 Sensors and permissions

The app requests the following Android / iOS permissions only when you trigger the corresponding feature:

Location `ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION` / `NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription`	To compute accurate prayer times and the qibla direction for your current city. We do not track you in the background.
Notifications `POST_NOTIFICATIONS`	To deliver adhan / silent reminders at prayer times, and the optional ongoing prayer schedule banner.
Motion / Compass `NSMotionUsageDescription`	To rotate the qibla compass needle as you turn the phone.
Network	To fetch Qur'an audio on demand, live audio broadcasts, and to refresh prayer times when the cached month runs out.
Receive boot completed	So that scheduled prayer notifications survive a device restart.

1.3 Data we never collect

Your name, email address, phone number, or any account identifier.
Your contact list, photos, calendars, microphone, or camera.
Your location in the background (we only read it when you tap "Use my location").

2. Third-party services

To make the app work and keep the free version sustainable, we use a small number of third-party SDKs. Each has its own privacy policy and you should review them as well.

2.1 Google AdMob (advertising)

The free version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a non-personal advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA) to limit ad frequency and serve relevant ads. We do not share any of your personal data with AdMob.

You can opt out of personalized ads from your device:

Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out / Reset advertising ID.
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track".

2.2 Google Play Billing / Apple In-App Purchase

If you purchase Lifetime Pro or subscribe to Pro Monthly, the transaction is handled directly by Google or Apple. We never see your card details. We only receive a confirmation that the purchase is valid, which we store locally so we can keep your Pro features unlocked.

2.3 Geocoding (reverse-geocoding for city names)

When you tap "Use my location," the device's built-in geocoder converts coordinates into a city name. On Android this uses the Android Location Services geocoder; on iOS it uses CLGeocoder. We do not send your coordinates to a third-party server.

2.4 Qur'an audio & ezan sounds CDN

The first time you play a surah or preview an adhan sound, the file is downloaded from a public Islamic audio archive (TVQuran / EveryAyah) and cached on your device. Only the URL of the file is requested — no personal data is sent.

2.5 Live broadcast streams

Live radio / video streams from the Two Holy Mosques and other channels are played from public broadcaster URLs. Your viewing is not reported back to us.

3. Children

The app is suitable for all ages but is not specifically directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will erase it.

4. Your rights (GDPR / KVKK / CCPA)

Because we don't operate a server and don't collect personal identifiers, there is no remote account or database for us to access. You have the following rights regardless:

Right of access & portability: all your data lives in your device's local storage. You can export it manually from the file system on Android.
Right to deletion: uninstall the app to permanently erase all data, or use Settings → Storage to clear specific caches.
Right to withdraw consent: revoke location and notification permissions from your phone's system settings at any time. The app will continue to work with manual city selection.
Right to opt out of ads: purchase the Pro tier to remove ads entirely.

5. Data retention & security

All app data is stored on your own device using the operating system's standard encrypted application sandbox. We do not transmit any personally identifiable information off the device. Caches can be cleared at any time from Settings → Storage.

6. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice inside the app on next launch.
