Push Notifications

Prerequisite: complete firebase.md first.

Sending a notification

Admin → Push Notifications:

  1. Title and Message.
  2. Optional image (shown as a big picture where supported).
  3. Optional URL — tapping the notification opens this page inside the app.
  4. Target:
    • All Devices
    • Android / iOS
    • Language — devices whose app language matches (great for localized campaigns)
    • Topic — devices subscribed to an FCM topic
  5. Send Now, or pick a date/time and Schedule (requires the cron job from installation.md).

History & delivery

Every send is recorded with sent/failed counters. For failures, the bug icon shows the exact FCM error codes. Tokens of uninstalled apps are detected automatically and cleaned up — failure counts drop over time by themselves.

How devices register

The app registers its FCM token with your backend on first launch and keeps it fresh. The Active Devices counters on the Notifications page show your reachable audience per platform.

In-app behavior

  • App closed / background: the system tray shows the notification; tapping opens the app and navigates to the URL (if set).
  • App open: the message is saved to the native notification inbox (the Notifications item in your app navigation) without interrupting the user.
  • Every received notification is kept in the inbox (last 50).

Good to know

  • Sends go directly from your server to Google — pmzpw.com is not involved and cannot see your notifications.
  • iOS users must accept the permission prompt (asked once on first launch).
  • Scheduled sends fire on the next cron run after their time — with a 5-minute cron the worst-case delay is 5 minutes.
